Sweet yeast rolls shaped into bow knots with orange juice and zest.
Ingredients
- 1 pkg dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 cup milk
- 1 stick margarine
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tsp grated orange peel
- 5 cups flour (approx.)
Frosting:
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp orange peel
- Orange juice (enough for a thick frosting)
Steps
- Dissolve yeast in the warm water.
- Combine in saucepan: milk, sugar, margarine and salt.
- Heat until margarine has melted. Let cool to lukewarm.
- Beat eggs well in large bowl.
- Add yeast and milk mixture to eggs and orange juice.
- Add 2 cups flour and beat with mixer on high speed (2 min).
- Stir in enough of the flour to make a soft dough.
- Grease sides of bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place until double in size. You can refrigerate and finish the next day.
- Roll and tie into knots and place on greased cookie sheet.
- Let rise until doubled.
- Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
- Combine powdered sugar, orange peel and enough orange juice for a thick frosting.
- Frost rolls while warm out of the oven.
Notes
- Frosting may be refrigerated.
