Simple pan-fried French toast with eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Ingredients
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla or other flavoring extracts
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- bread of almost any type, preferably stale
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
Steps
- Combine eggs, milk, flavoring and cinnamon in a bowl or other container, sized to barely fit a single slice of bread.
- Heat skillet to 350 degrees F. if your skillet is temperature-regulated, otherwise on stovetop at low to medium low setting.
- Add 2 tbsp of cooking oil to skillet, immediately prior to next step.
- Dip bread into coating, enough to soak and place immediately into a moderately hot skillet.
- Fry first side until edges appear slightly brown and crisp.
- Turn-over and fry other side until edges appear slightly brown and crisp.
- Remove French toast from pan and repeat with additional slices of bread.
- Serve with sugar (powdered or granular) or syrup and butter.
Notes
- A glass of milk accompanies this dish very well.
