A big, tender vanilla cake made with shortening — baked every Saturday.
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 6 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 6 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
Steps
- Cream shortening with sugar till light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla and combine well.
- Add dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt) alternating with milk.
- Mix well.
- Pour into a greased and floured cake pan and bake 375 degrees for 40 min till toothpick comes out dry.
